Mysa

Mysa is a homewares and gift shop on Cockburn Street in Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Why Mysa?

The small independent shop sells home wares like plant hangers, candle holders, prints by local artists, cushions and throws, scented candles, mugs and beautifully glazed bowls. Brass frames, mirrors, magnetic photo hangers and paper ornaments round up the selection of wall decorations.

The selection and colour scheme of items and themes show this little shop has been thoughtfully curated.

A relaxing shopping experience, the small space feels welcoming and homely. From travel to mindfulness, architectural and botanical, and gardening, to a cute looking range of popular classic fiction in beautifully designed hardback covers, every single book is an eyecatcher and tempts to flick through the pages. Botanical and animal-themed illustrated postcards can be purchased for 75p and could be great for decorating on a budget.

Bee hotels and bee-themed prints and books show that Mysa stock what is trendy. Starter sets for plants, miniature succulents and cacti can be paired with the big range of plant pots (small ones starting from £5) and plant hangers. Everything is nicely presented and each item would work with any of the others on display.

An impressive selection of cushions, considering the size of the shop, ranging from mustardy yellow to blue, and pastels. These can be complemented by throws available in a similar colour pallette. For a bigger budget, the deer and different coloured sheepskin may be appealing.

Staff are at hand to advise, but they don’t intrude. A great wee place to discover books or ornaments, buy small and larger gifts, which have been carefully selected, or just to come in for a browse, Mysa is centrally located on Cockburn Street and offers something for different budgets. You may find yourself looking for one thing, and leaving with many.
